I’m Gelsomino Im, a 35 years old professional photographer. 

During my childhood I always been in the mountains with my family, and growing up with my friends in camping activities. In the past five years, I’ve started hiking with a friend and exploring the mountains off the beaten path. The feeling of discovering the unknown has become the greatest adventure for me. I love setting up camp with my tent and spending the whole day practicing bushcraft, it’s where I feel most connected to nature and truly alive.

Where is the best place in Italy for the ultimate outdoor adventure?

Italy is rich of nature, from the Alpine to the Appenini you can find the best trekking and spots! But for me personally the best place is Monte Polveracchio in Campagna!

The beech forest in autumn have a spectacular foliage and the peace free from over tourism can give you the peace of mind.

Have you ever had a memorable outdoor experience? If yes, what happened? 

My first memorable experience was conquering my first mountain peak!

It was in 2020, at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. A friend and I decided to climb to the top of a mountain. The excitement of the conquest and the effort it took to achieve it became the reason I decided to continue doing it more often, and better prepared.

What "firestarter" kit do you always carry outdoors?

I always use a fire steel to start my campfire! For me, lighting a fire is a ritual. Using my fire steel together with my Heimo 4” knife relaxes me and gives me the perfect feeling to begin the day.
